  • Tau Chapter History

On May 15, 1912, the University of Kansas gained its fifth sorority with the founding of Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi.  The addition of Alpha Delta Pi resulted from an extension program and eleven women were initiated as charter members.  Alpha Delta Pi members at the University of Kansas have enjoyed residence in five different chapter houses. The current chapter house was built in 1953, and a new addition was added in 1981.

Tau Chapter holds a legacy of excellence within Alpha Delta Pi, having received the Diamond Four Point Award each year since 1973.  Tau also frequently earns the Panhellenic, Scholarship, Total Membership Education, Legacy, Programming and the Harris Financial Awards.  For its continuous efforts toward improvement, Tau Chapter has received the Golden Lion on six occasions.
